St Lawrence’s Under 10s Triumph in Manchester Full Irish tournament
St Lawrences under 10s won their first piece of silverware of the season by claiming victory in the prestigious Full Irish tournament that is held annually in Burnage rugby club.
St Lawrences went through the tournament unbeaten and what made the achievement even more remarkable is the fact that they beat Irish opposition on the way to the title not once but twice.
The St Lawrences side claim victories over St Annes, Oisins and beat an Irish team from Armagh in the Group stages and then in the final to prove that the hard work being put into underage in Lancashire is paying dividends and that players are just as good as teams in Ireland.
Strong performances were put for the ’Yellow Bellies’ by Martin Collins, Seamus Murphy and Niall Smith. Credit must also go to coaches to Brendan Hargaden, Seamus Murphy, Brendan Deacy and Pete Melarkey who put a lot of effort into the underage this year.
