Ladies March On

St Lawrences 4-8 Oisins 0-6

Our ladies team took on Oisins on Wednesday past and enjoyed a comprehensive win over the visitors at sun soaked Turn Moss. Before the ball was thrown in Lawrence’s had already qualified for the league final, but were determined to maintain their 100% record this season.

Lawrence’s raced in to an early 9 point lead with two goals from Lauren Kelly and one from Kelly McKillion. Lawrence’s were much the better team in the first half and should have┬áhad more on the scoreboard at half time only for some wayward shooting that saw the ball drop wide or short of the posts.

St Lawrence’s led by 3-2 to 0-3 at halftime. St Lawrence’s came out the second half determined to put the game to bed and blew their rivals away as they outscored them 1-6 to 0-3 in the second period. Edel Colleran was in superb form in the second half as she hit some fine individual efforts. Substitute Roisin Langan added a further goal shortly after her introduction. Lawrence’s finished strongly to see the game out as they had done in their previous fixtures and will be full of confidence as they head towards the beginning of the championship and prepare for the league final.

It was a real team performance by the girls in purple in gold as once again the defence held strong to ensure their third consecutive clean sheet. Best for Lawrence’s were Cathy O’Reilly, Gina Durcan, Emma McConnell, Jemma Murray and the midfield partnership of Donna McGinley and Sharon Kelly excelled again. Mairead Daly was her usual industrious self, whilst the forward unit was clinical in front of goal!
