St Lawrences U10s & U12s Shine In Underage Blitz
Saturday 26th April 2009 saw Lawrences compete in the second underage blitz of the season. The sun shone as the Yellow Bellies fielded two strong squads at both Under 10s and 12s, which included a number of new recruits experiencing their first underage matches.
The Under 10s matches got underway first with a comfortable win over St Anns including a first competitive score for Conan Murphy. The subsequent games with St Benedicts and St Marys were much closer but still resulted in victories for St Lawrences thanks to excellent team performances from the youngsters. Luke Maycock also opened his account grabbing a point in the final match and was ultimately awarded man of the match
The Under 12s day was not quite as successful with no wins but this was very much a new panel who got better and better as the day progressed. The final game against an experienced Oisins team saw their best performance especially from Martin ‘Vidic’ Collins in defence and point scorer Callum Jones. Clearly the best is yet to come from this rapidly developing squad.
