For 36 years St Lawrence’s have been promoting Gaelic football in Manchester. Not only have we been instrumental in promoting underage football but we have also forged close links with the universities in Manchester and helped to develop third level football here in Britain. We believe a strong university scene ¬†will benefit all clubs in Lancashire.

After the Collapse of men’s football in the university scene in Manchester, St Lawerence’s went into MMU, the University of Manchester and Salford University Freshers fair in 2013 with the aim of reestablishing men’s Gaelic football once again in Manchester’s universities.

St Lawrence’s offered the students a loan of our equipment, kit, pitches, provided referees and coaching to help get the university GAA scene back on its feet. We took great delight when men’s university football began to be played in Manchester once again in 2015.

St Lawrence’s have also been at the forefront of establsihing ladies football in the University of Manchester with some of our homegrown players and Irish students helping to form the current ladies club.

As a club we have aimed to build close links and regularly play the universities in challenge games during our pre-season to help the university teams prepare for the British University Championship.

Our own pitches at Turn Moss have fast become the home of university football here in Manchester with the Sigerson Cup Qualifiers played at Turn Moss in 2017. As the only club in Manchester with two full size pitches with access to changing facilities we have hosted the British University Championship for the past three years and are proud do so once again in 2017. We are proud that UoM and MMU have used Turn Moss as their home ground for the last few years and hope they continue to do so for many years.

So Whether you are a student who is looking to keep fit for your club back home during the summer months or looking for a new club during your time in Manchester you are more than welcome to join the St Lawrence’s family like the many students who have chosen to make St Lawrence’s their new home in Manchester.
